Imagine a farm filled with dirty pigs…

 pigNext to the fence,

you see a beautiful young lady

throwing her precious pearl necklace into the pig’s den…..

That would be foolish, right?pearls2

Imagine your friendship to others as a gift to be given…

I12475235-broken-pearl-necklace-in-the-shape-of-a-heart-and-a-small-old-wooden-chest-with-pearls-on-a-white-baWho would you give your necklace to?

Friends we choose to hang with will influence us for good or bad

Proverbs 13:20 says, “He who walks with the wise grows wise,

but a companion of fools suffers harm.”

1 Corinthians 15:30 says, “Bad company corrupts good morals.”

The Bible tells us to be discerning on who we let into our inner circle.

The verses aren’t talking about cliques, but about whom we share our most trusted

part of ourselves with. At first a new friend seems like a perfect fit. But then something

happens and a siren goes off in our mind. This is when we need to check where we are standing.

Ask yourself,                    dirtpig             “Am I in a pig’s pen throwing my pearls?”

If so, graciously move away. Understand that God gives every person free will to make choices.

If there is a friend that you are concerned about, pray about it.

Who you choose to spend your time with does matter for you and your future.

You are precious in God’s eyes and He wants good things for you, including good friends.

Maybe you wonder about how much God really loves you and cares specifically

about you.

Ezekiel 16 gives you a glimpse into the heart of God:  “10 I clothed you

with an embroidered dress and put leather sandals on you.

I dressed you in fine linen and covered you with costly garments.

11 I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck,

12 and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.

13 So you were adorned with gold and silver; your clothes were of fine linen and

costly fabric and embroidered cloth.”

In this verse, you see how God loves you and wants good things for you

as His beloved daughter and that definitely includes great friends.

So go and enjoy your pearls and leave the pigs to their dirt!

“…do not throw your pearls to pigs…” Matthew 9:6
